Fruity, sweet and chocolate goodness.  
Chocolate Pear gluten free tarte


  • 3 pears peeled and placed in lemon water

  • 2 cups almond flour

  • ½ cup chocolate powder

  • 2 eggs

  • ½ cup rice syrup 

  • 2 tablespoons coconut milk 

  • ⅓ cup extra virgin coconut oil (mild flavour)

  • 1 pod vanilla bean 

  • 1 teaspoons baking powder

  • ½ teaspoon Salt




  1. Preheat oven to 160C.

  2. Grease  20cm flan dish and line with baking paper.

  3. Lay fresh halved pear on the base insides facing down.

  4. Add almond meal, chocolate powder and baking powder in a bowl,

  5. Separately beat eggs and rice syrup, coconut oil, vanilla bean paste, milk,  

  6. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, mix with a wide spoon. 

  7. Pour onto the pears.

  8. Place dish into an oven tray and bake for 25 mins or until the center of the cake no longer feels wet and fork when pricked is not wet.  The smell will be heavenly.

  9. Take out of the oven and leave for 5 mins before turning out onto a cake plate, peel off the baking paper.

  10. Serve with a dollop of full-fat yogurt or coconut cream.
